Going Digital

Postby maxlamp on Thu Jul 17, 2008 6:10 pm

By Feb. 17, 2009, all broadcast TV transmissions in the US will switch to digital format. After that date, television will not be broadcast in analog signals any longer. Television viewing will only be possible if one has a digital converter box.

For those who have projectors, and use them for television viewing from time to time, investing in a replacement lamp would be wise, especially if you are the proud owner of an analog tube television. Now what is infrequent tv viewing with your projector could turn into regular viewing and result in you burning through your lamp life hours sooner than expected.

Rear projection tv's make the digital grade, for the most part, as the majority were produced with digital processors. Be sure to check with the manufacturer of your rptv if it was made more than 10 years ago, and verify the digital capabilities. Picking up a spare lamp for your RPTV before it shows a decrease in brightness or effectiveness is always a wise choice.

Make sure to check with the Cable or Satellite TV providers in your area to find options on this conversion to digital broadcasts. You may also check this forum from time to time for updates and changes to this posting.
